As a general rule, cotton usually shrinks between 2% and 3% in its first washes.
Cotton is a fabric that shrinks when washed in hot water and when put in the dryer. Therefore, it's recommended to wash cotton clothing in cold water to keep this shrinkage rate low and prevent it from increasing to high levels in hot temperatures.
